The best selling author of A Gentleman in Moscow and Rules of Civility and master of absorbing, sophisticated fiction returns with a stylish and propulsive novel set in 1950s America

In June, 1954, eighteen-year-old Emmett Watson is driven home to Nebraska by the warden of the work farm where he has just served a year for involuntary manslaughter. His mother long gone, his father recently deceased, and the family farm foreclosed upon by the bank, Emmett’s intention is to pick up his eight-year-old brother and head west where they can start their lives anew. But when the warden drives away, Emmett discovers that two friends from the work farm have hidden themselves in the trunk of the warden’s car. Together, they have hatched an altogether different plan for Emmett’s future.

Spanning just ten days and told from multiple points of view, Towles’s third novel will satisfy fans of his multi-layered literary styling while providing them an array of new and richly imagined settings, characters, and themes.

Our March meeting will be held March 8 at 7pm in Town Hall to discuss The Killer Angels.

In the four most bloody and courageous days of our nation's history, two armies fought for two dreams. One dreamed of freedom, the other of a way of life. Far more than rifles and bullets were carried into battle. There were memories. There were promises. There was love. And far more than men fell on those Pennsylvania fields. Shattered futures, forgotten innocence, and crippled beauty were also the casualties of war. The Killer Angels is unique, sweeping, unforgettable—a dramatic re-creation of the battleground for America's destiny.

A Message From the Boonton Township Police Department

Chief Danyo congratulates our Rockaway Valley School 5th grade DARE graduates!

The 5th grade students at Rockaway Valley School recently completed an intensive 12 week curriculum lead by specialty certified DARE officers, which discusses health, safety, and confidence-building. The Boonton Township DARE program has been successfully taught at Rockaway Valley School for over 25 years. For most of these children, the DARE program may mark their first experience with a police officer. This program amongst other things, allows our officers to develop positive relationships with these children starting at a crucial young age.

Pictured below are the RVS 5th grade DARE graduates along with Physical Education teacher Amy Fudala, and BTPD DARE Instructors Sergeant Thomas Cacciabeve and Patrolman Kevin Marhefka.
